I went to high school with a guy that ended up in Blackwater, in Afghanistan, and I don’t know what the hell he was doing out there, but he came back and immediately shot himself in the head with a shotgun. I’m assuming out of shear guilt from what he did while he was there. Not only did he unalive himself, but he was in such a hurry to do it that he did it while his wife was in the kitchen, making dinner.

Black water is a terrorist organization that should not exist. Period! How dare we deploy them anywhere in the world! It terrifies me that we dismantle the minds of human beings to create those kind of killers. Absolutely disturbing.

And if I’m remembering correctly, they didn’t even pay that well. They take your soul for pennies on the dollar. The equivalent of $60-$80,000 a year which if you ask me is not merely enough to dismantle your mind and destroy your life.

100% brilliant comment. The Radical Notion!

It's sad, but it's true: you're used as a battering ram; they use you to undermine and to corral a people at the whim of the masters of state, and all while being a "soldier of fortune.".

Although these firms, etc., provide other services, their main purpose is that of serving empires.

The most chilling thing for me is the outsourcing of warfare, a privatization of warfare, if you will. It's something that has been on the rise since before 2001, but as we proceeded into the 2000s and on to today, the prevalence of the use of these PMC firms has truly taken on a life of its own. Although accountability seems like something of the past, these firms are near enough accountable to no one. Even international law experts find it hard to define these people in terms of being part of occupying forces. It's a new world indeed.

All the information pointing towards the crimes of empire, the lies and deceit, and the manufacturing of consent of the masses for imperialist wars time and again across the world, you would think people would be more discerning in this sense.

Sadly it's true, never letting a crisis go to waste. A very convoluted and twisted society we live in. The West in general has always benefited from the misery of another, colonialism, the parasitical nature of the exploitation of the working class, and the huge disparity in equality, both nationally and on an international level. As they say, the rich keep on getting richer; the rest, well...
