Some of the speech’s from Saturday can be found at the bottom of the post along with relevant links.

As we enter into 2025, the Israeli colonial entity continues to ramp up its violence on the people of Palestine, with more comments coming from Israeli officials calling for Gaza to be “cleansed” and for the West Bank to be “annexed” as soon as possible.

Not only do the people of Palestine have to contend with the apathy of the world's powers and the underhanded tactics of the US empire and its rabid dogs of war, but the people have also been facing extreme weather conditions from flooding to freezing conditions, this on top of everything else. Numerous children have died from the conditions so far; prior to these conditions, kids were dying in hospitals inside ventilators because the Israelis restricted aid, fuel, and other essentials from reaching them and put the hospitals under siege one after the other.

Despite the fact that Trump has surrounded himself with staunch supporters of Israel and has received funds from billionaire Zionists, some still feel that somehow these talking heads of empire, no matter who they are, will bring any real change whatsoever; the situation does not bode well. However, the courageous Palestinian people continue to face this brutality with honour and dignity.

People from across the globe continue to stand up, but when the inevitable “ceasefire” comes, whether it be soon or in the future, we must continue to put pressure on the Western establishments and Israel until the Palestinian people have broken the shackles and have taken their rightful place among the nations of the world, sovereign and in control of their own destiny without the dictates of outside forces and influences.

Belfast vigil & march for Palestine Saturday 11th Jan. Links to all relevant groups & orgs are below.

Every Friday activists from groups across Belfast gather to hold a vigil in solidarity with the Palestinian people, this vigil has been maintained for over 460 days since Israel’s launching of its genocidal violence on the Gaza Strip.

Actions were taking place throughout the morning on Saturday with BDS activists staging direct actions and gathering signatures against the financiers and profiteers of genocide, apartheid and colonialism. Along with Barclays bank a regular BDS target for its continued financing of the weapons manufacturers such as Raytheon, Boeing and Elbit Systems other targets consisted of McDonalds and Starbucks. BDS Stickers were plastered on the windows of these establishments by activists throughout the day.

Since our previous research, published in July 2022, Barclays has increased the value of its shareholdings in the companies identified by over 55%. This includes new shareholdings in Raytheon and Rolls-Royce, as well as more than tripling its shareholding in Elbit Systems. In addition, since our previous research, Barclays has increased the value of its loans and underwriting to the companies identified by 54.5%.

This includes an over 70% increase in the provision of loans and underwriting to Caterpillar, and a 98% increase in loans and underwriting to Raytheon. By providing investment and financial services to these arms companies, Barclays is facilitating Israel’s militarised attacks on Palestinians across their homeland, including Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

It is also lending legitimacy to those providing equipment for this purpose. Moreover, the provision of loans and other forms of credit enables these arms companies to grow, acquire new companies, gain more market share and increase their profits.

Report on Barclays May 2024🔗

At around 1 pm, groups and activists gathered at Writers Square in Belfast City Centre to march to City Hall. Nurses, doctors, and activists donned scrubs carrying dolls representing the children that had died due to Israel's continued attacks on the healthcare sector and its targeting of hospitals, especially. As it stands, around 3 hospitals are only partially operating out of around 36. Those hospitals have been put out of service through the want and destruction of occupation forces.

The march made its way to City hall where a number of people give speech’s on the current situation including Palestinian activists and student and a Dr from Palestine speaking about the taking of director of Kamal Adwan Hospital Dr.Hussam Abu Safia who has been said to have been tortured and is still being held in Israeli detention. Along with the director patients and caregivers who were left inside the hospital after its siege were taking into detention as well.

Some of these facilities are also being used as bases for operations for parts of the occupation forces in Gaza. The claims that Hamas were using these places as “HQs” had been rubbished, but the Israeli army blatantly does it, and nothing is said.

Every accusation is an admission from Israel and its backers!
